In April of 2018 AIS celebrated 45 years in business. The success of AIS is based on our inventory, the staff and our customers. Our extensive inventory of over 60,000 products provides hard to find items to industry, home owners, contractors, commercial businesses and municipalities. My three managers, Jim, Steve, and Scott have each worked for AIS for 40 years. They work tirelessly to assist and help customers solve problems and as a result we are fortunate to have an expanding loyal customer base.
I purchase an existing Amesbury business from my father (Wally Jardis) in 1976. With his help and guidance the business grew to the point where I needed a larger facility. In 1983 even though I had several options open to me I made the decision to purchase a 50,000 square foot (run down) historic mill building in the Mill Yard. The ability to purchase a large building with parking (and located in Amesbury) is why I decided to stay in Amesbury.
A good mix of residential homeowners, contractors, tradespeople, as well as industrial businesses in and around the Amesbury area provide an excellent customer base that keeps us and other businesses very busy. The availability of affordable real estate is also an advantage.
I’ve been doing business in Amesbury for 45 years and I have watched the local Amesbury economy (including the surrounding communities) grow tremendously. My sense is that economic growth in this location will continue to be strong. Proximity and easy access to two major Interstates (I95 and I495) makes it easy for customers to get in and out of the seacoast area as well as easy access for your suppliers to deliver goods. The North Shore / Seacost community likes to buy local, so if you can provide quality products and stellar customer service you will be rewarded with long term loyal customers.
