Choose a Chamber Member (You’ll Know Who They Are Because Of The New Window Clings)

Well, it’s almost the end of January and we’re starting to see some of our new initiatives takechoose a chamber member shape. I’m super excited to share one of those initiatives with you, which is our new window clings for Chamber members to display at their business! I’m sure you’ve seen old ones around town, they look shabby and sun drenched (some even say Alliance for Amesbury, our predecessor).

We want to make sure that Amesbury residents know who our Members are. We highly encourage you to choose Chamber Members whenever you need something.

Why choose a Chamber Member?

There are lots of reasons to choose a Chamber Member! If a business has maintained membership in the Chamber of Commerce they have chosen to financially invest in the future of our community. As a group they make it possible for us to address concerns with business regulations and zoning, offer education and leadership programs, as well as impact the quality of life in Amesbury and economic growth.

Chamber Members often further invest in community events with sponsorships and gifts. These businesses help fund our scholarships for AHS students and frequently are found to be charitable to other local organizations. Chamber member businesses are reputable and care about their company, employees, and customers.

Studies show that consumers favor Chamber businesses. That only works if people know who the Chamber Members are. Therefore, we bring you new window clings and an easy-to-navigate business directory!

Next time you (or someone you know) need something locally, choose a Chamber Member! (And tell them we sent you!) Members will receive a new cling when they renew their membership. We have also recently updated our website and changed the categories in our Business Directory to make searching for a business more intuitive.

Not sure which businesses are Chamber Members? It’s easy! Just look for our logo in their window, or search our Business Directory (bookmark it for easy access). You can also read about some of our successful businesses and their Success Stories.

Executive Director Update: Kicking Off 2017

Happy New Year!

We’re always striving to be more accessible and transparent so that our members know what we’re up to, and the community knows why we’re here. So in 2017, I’m setting a goal to write a blog post now and again in the Community Corner. Our members have the ability to post as well, so if you’re a member and you have something to share, let us know. In the meantime, you get to hear from me! I’ll try to tell you about projects we’re working on, things we’re learning about, people we’ve met, etc.

We recently launched a new Job Board, where member businesses have unlimited access to post open positions. We want this Job Board to become a resource for employers and employees to connect with each other. I hope the community will use it to find jobs!

job board

Continuing with the theme of jobs, two of our members who work very closely together are holding a job fair on February 9th from 10am to 1pm. ValleyWorks Career Center is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to enter or re-enter the workforce, or hire new employees. They are located at Northern Essex Community College right in Haverhill. I know many of our local businesses are hiring and a lot of people in town are looking for jobs. So, if you’re hiring you might want to look into getting an employer booth. If you’re job searching you should plan to attend.

Here’s the list of employers already planning to attend, and here’s more information about getting an employer booth.

CrossFit Amesbury Preps Jets for Success

After just one month with our doors open CrossFit Amesbury (CFA) has made huge strides; not only in growing our own community, but also having an impact on Amesbury. Over 2 weekends in July CFA hosted the Amesbury Jets in preparation for their upcoming season. Over 40 athletes from the Jets joined us for 2 Strength and Conditioning sessions at our new facility located at 21 Water Street.

This was an amazing opportunity for us to have a positive impact on the organization as well as its athletes. We took the time to educate the athletes on the importance of strength and conditioning, and also took some time to help them understand the importance of proper nutrition and hydration before, during and after their training.

We look forward to growing this partnership and helping the youth of Amesbury understand that CrossFit transcends beyond adult training and can be a very positive tool in helping all types of people become healthier, lead more active lifestyles as well as gain mental strength and clarity along the way.

We are very grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community and appreciate the warm welcome we have already received.

Yours in Fitness,

CFA Staff

Change in leadership at the Chamber

To our valued members and friends:

First and foremost, I want to thank you for your continued support of the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce. You are the reason that the Chamber has been so successful over the last three years.

It is with bittersweet feelings that I am writing to inform you of my plans to leave the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce at the end of this month. I have truly enjoyed working with you for the betterment of our fine City, and I really feel that we have accomplished a great deal working together.

As a result of my resignation, the Chamber’s Board of Directors voted unanimously to promote current Director of Events Kassandra “Kasey” Gove, who I had hired last year with this eventual succession in mind. Since joining the Chamber, Kasey has immersed herself in the organization by learning every aspect of what we do. She is an experienced leader, with strong event planning, budgeting and marketing skills. What’s more, she is a fifth-generation Amesbury native who is already well connected to the community and many of our members.

I share the Board’s confidence in Kasey and know she will be an effective Executive Director. I encourage you to reach out to Kasey to introduce yourself and welcome her to this new position.

Thank you very much for your support. If there is anything I can help you with before my departure, please let me know.
